Aron Korngut's Identity Card

The online resources of the National Archives in Krakow have expanded with digitized applications and ID cards issued between 1930 and 1939. These include the ID card application and the ID card itself, issued in 1930, of Aron Korngut from Czarny Dunajec.

Two years ago, Izrael Koren, a descendant of the Korngut family, came to the anniversary of the Holocaust from Czarny Dunajec. He brought with him the preserved original ID card of his father, Józef Dawid Korngut, who survived the war and his exile. Currently, we know of two surviving ID cards, both belonging to cousins: Józef Dawid and Aron Korngut. The history of this side of the family is described here.

Aron Korngut was born on December 8, 1909. His parents were Efraim and Chawe. On his application, he listed his profession as Talmudist and his language skills as Polish and Hebrew. He also provided a Krakow address at 20 Dajwór Street, where he had been registered since May 10, 1929.
