The delegation from Matte Asher

On May 13, a delegation from the Matte Asher region in northern Israel came to Czarny Dunajec for the second time. Representatives of the local government with its chairman Mosze Dawidowicz and the inhabitants of the region visited the Jewish cemetery, the synagogue and watched the performance of the Watra song and dance group from the Czarny Dunajec commune.

A group of over 20 people from Israel held a short ceremony at the cemetery and lit six candles to symbolize the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. After visiting the building of the former synagogue, they sang several songs, including one together with a group of Polish youth.

Chairman Mosze Dawidowicz assured of his willingness to establish a permanent partnership with the Czarny Dunajec commune, including assistance in the renovation of the synagogue building, and also invited a folk band to perform in Israel. In 2023, another delegation from the Matte Asher region is to come to Czarny Dunajec, this time a group of young people.
